William "Billy" S. Crawford, 55, of Meadville, lost a very hard fought battle to cancer surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his residence.  He was born July 16, 1966 in Meadville, a son of Wilbert L. and Donna E. Banta Crawford.  On October 7, 2006, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Smith, she survives. He was a graduate of Meadville High School and was employed with Wabtec where he was Vice President of the Independent Union of UE506. Billy was a social member of West Mead #1 and Vernon Central.  He coached Meadville Wrestling and started the Eagles Wrestling Club.  He was a devoted husband, father, and son who loved spending time with his family, especially vacationing at Myrtle Beach.  He was an avid hunter, golfer, and Steelers fan. In addition to his loving wife, Rebecca Crawford of Meadville; he is survived by a son, Louis L. Crawford and his significant other Michaela Soper of Kane, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Alex E. Crawford and her significant other Eli of Reading, Pennsylvania; his mother, Donna Crawford of Meadville; two brothers, Martin G. Crawford and his fiancé Linda Mitchell of Prattville, Alabama and Christopher J. Crawford and his wife Michelle of Meadville; a cousin who was like a brother, Nic Porfilo of Meadville; a sister, Mary E. Cummins and her husband Ray of Holly Springs, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, June 9th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 5:00pm with Father Joseph Petrone, officiating.  It was Billy's request that everyone attending please wear bright Hawaiian shirts. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Pamela Hogue; and a sister in law, Pam Crawford. The family would like to thank everyone at the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute especially Holly and Dr. Brown, Hospice of Crawford County, and Dr. Candyce Lucian for the care and support given to Billy through his journey.   5. I, have known Billy for a very long time, having the utmost privilege to work beside him at GE-Wabtec. Billy was my UE Local 506 Brother and always will be!!!!! He was very dedicated in his efforts and put his heart into everything he did……. He will be sadly missed. Condolences go out to the his entire family.

  9. I new bill for many years as a fellow Building seven worker. My opinion was the best chief steward building seven ever had. We sure had fun when I was there rest in peace brother my condolences to Bill’s family

  10. Billy was an amazing human being. We are all better people for knowing him. Our hearts are breaking but thoughts of him bring smiles to our faces. Only a very special person can have that type of an impact. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Billy will never be forgotten.

  11. Oh my Billy. How loved you are and how much your devious laugh will be missed. I’m thankful for all the times we shared chatting and laughing. I’m very thankful you met the love of your life and experienced that. I mean this in the most loving way, I’m little jelly you are now hanging out with Pam, Dad, Uncle Perry, and Gramma Banta. Woooooo hoooooo. As I write this, I have a lump in my throat. So freaking unfair you were taken from us early. F-U cancer. Your devotion to your family and friends, to the young men you coached, and to the employees you mentored and fought for is duly noted in the Utmost High King’s heart!   12. Billy was such a good role model for my kids. He was a great coach and dedicated a large part of his life to Meadville youth wrestling and even more to the Eagles wrestling!! He will be sadly missed but never forgotten, of coarse!! Fly high Billy!!
