William A. Langford William A. Langford, 83, of US 322, Cranberry, Venango County, passed away at his residence at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011. Born September 3, 1928 in Oklahoma, William was the son of the late Claude E. and Lillie B. Neil Langford. He married the former Jane Lynn on July 24, 1948, and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2010. Mr. Langford was a US Army Korean War Veteran, having served from February 26, 1952 until November 25, 1953. While in the Army, Mr. Langford was the recipient of a Korean Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, a Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Commendation Ribbon w/Medal Pendant. Mr. Langford retired from National Fuel Gas in 1985, where he had been employed as a meter reader for 32 years. He also worked for Charlie Baker Auction Service for 25 years, and for Manion Steel Barrel for a short period of time. He is survived by his special friends, Manuel and Mary Nazario, of Cranberry with whom he resided; and Amy and Ethan Culp of Franklin. Mr. Langford is also survived by his brothers, Claude B. Langford and his wife, Doris, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Kenneth Langford and his wife, Kathy, of Girard, PA; and his sister-in-law, Diane Langford, of Reno, PA. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Langford was preceded in death by his brother, David S. Langford. Family and friends will be received at the Gardiner Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest County VNA Chaplain and Rev. Susan Evans, Venango County VNA Chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow at Reno Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation - 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.
