Walter W. Walkowski Walter W. Walkowski, 96, of Pacific Street, Franklin, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, September 12, 2011. Born in Franklin on February 3, 1915, Walter was the son of the late Konstanty and Anna C. Raczkowski Walkowski. He worked at Franklin Steel as a Steel worker for 31 years, and retired from there in 1977. After his retirement, he traveled all over the country. He was a very generous man, and was very kind and loving to everyone. Mr. Walkowski was a WWII Army Veteran, having served in the European Theater with the 79th Infantry Division. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mr. Walkowski is survived by his brother, Joseph Walkowski of Arkansas; his step-sisters, Helen Monarch of Franklin and Jane Brink of Burnsville, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthoney and John Walkowski; and his sisters, Mary Krasowski and Ann Myers. Family and friends of Mr. Walkowski will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Parish Wake Service, led by Deacon Walter Jones, will be held at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Patrick Catholic Church, with Msgr. John Herbein as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
