SAEGERTOWN " Virginia M. Hope, 71, formerly of 218 Chestnut St., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Crawford County Care Center following a courageous battle with a three-month-long illness.
Born in Meadville on July 19, 1939, she was a daughter of Harley W. Ferry and Mae Kightlinger. She married Harry Hope in August 1962 at St. Hippolyte Church. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1989.
She was a homemaker in her earlier years and later in life worked at Quality Inn.
She was a member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church and was involved with the Cursillo Movement church group. She loved visiting her family and many friends.
She is survived by six brothers, Wayne Ferry and his wife, Donna, of Meadville, Carl Ferry and his wife, Marguerite, of North Carolina, Leroy Ferry and his wife, Sandy, of Meadville, Robert Ferry and his wife, Laura, of Washington, Floyd Ferry and his wife, Melody, of Meadville, and Steven Ferry and his wife, Patricia, of Meadville; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
In addition her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, Harold Smith.
Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 State Highway 27, Guys Mills, with Fr. Dennis Veltri of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial is in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Guys Mills.

It’s been a long time since I met such a caring, honest, sincere, wonderful human being.
We called her Jennie and she jumped to help everyone. Even when they were not so nice to her, she turned the other cheek. She is missed.
