Grovertown- Virgil O. Herring, 78 and a resident of Starke County since 2000, passed away in his home at 3:30 P.M. on July 2, 2013. Born in Titusville, Pennsylvania on July 23, 1934, he was the son of Virgil Clarence and Pauline D. Jackson Herring. On November 29, 1958 Virgil married Betty May Bromley and together they shared 39 years together. She preceded him in death in 1998. Virgil worked for True Temper in Union City, PA for 22 years before retiring in 1994. After meeting in Pennsylvania, Virgil married Hope A. Grounds in Hamlet, Indiana on June 9, 2001. They both attended First Pentecostal Church in Hamlet. Virgil was an honest man and loved traveling with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Hope Herring of Grovertown and their children and step-children, Debra Durffey of Wattsburg, PA, David Owen Herring and his wife Lorretta of Union City, PA, Israel Wilcox of Bourbon, Ira Scott Grounds of Plymouth, Virgil Shane Grounds and his wife Jennifer of New Orleans, LA, P. Denna Grounds of Evansville, IN, Sgt. Angel Grounds of Ft. Riley, KA, and Isaiah Lincoln Grounds of Grovertown, IN; a brother, Rodney Herring and his wife Sylvia of Centerville, PA; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Lisa Sian and his brothers, Jessie R. and Ralph D. Herring. Friends and family may call on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00A.M. at Willis L. Arnold Funeral Home 33353 N. Main Street, Townville a branch firm of Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral and committal service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Bault officiating.
