Verna G. Yovich

Verna Yovich, age 101, of Union City, died Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Rouse Estates Nursing Facility in Youngsville, PA.

A daughter of Jacob and Edna Rommick Shayko, she was born November 24, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio.

On May 4, 1946 she married the boy next door, Dan Yovich, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Mrs. Yovich was a mother, grandmother, homemaker, machinist and was well known as “The Cake Lady of Union City”.

After retiring at the age of 90, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and crossword puzzles.

Verna was the Grand Marshall of the Union City Homecoming Parade in 2021.

Surviving is a daughter, Andrea Darnofall and husband Larry of Corry; a grandson, Shane Darnofall and wife Cayla of Corry; a dear nephew and niece, Jack and Diane Shayko and their daughters, Karla and Kelsey; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Yovich of Savannah, GA; and a cousin, Dorothy Ladouceur of Sterling Heights, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband mentioned above; two sons, Alan Yovich and Kevin Yovich; and a grandson, Peter Yovich in 1988.

Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 62 South Main Street, Union City. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Stacie Shchouchkoff, officiating.

Interment will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
