SAEGERTOWN - Tressa Myers Hancox, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.She was born Oct. 17, 1921, at Huey, Clarion County, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mae Case Myers. She married Raymond A. (Ike) Hancox Jan. 11, 1937, at Kittanning. He preceded her in death March 4, 2002.Through the 1950s, she worked at the former City Hospital and at Talon Inc. in Meadville. Later she was a homemaker, did dairy work and was a partner with her late husband, raising, selling and trading registered Belgian horses.She was of the Protestant faith.She loved the family, the farm and animals, especially the little dog, Fido. She enjoyed nature and reading poetry.She is survived by a son, James A. Hancox and his wife, Alice, of Meadville; two grandsons, Michael Hancox and his wife, Melissa, of Albion, and James H. Hancox of Meadville; a granddaughter, Jamie Holsten and her husband, Jack, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Abigail and Amanda; four stepgrandchildren, Gene Ongley, David Ongley, Robin Ongley and Susan Ongley; a brother, Joseph Myers of Clarks Mills; a sister, Betty Joanne Lippert and her husband, Ronald, of Meadville; and a sister-in-law, Bernie Myers of Linesville. She is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Joseph C. and Mae Myers, and her husband of 65 years, Raymond A. Hancox, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond (Butch) Hancox; an infant daughter, Shirley Mae Hancox; a grandson, Gary Alan Hancox; two sisters, Faye Cox and Mabel Smith; and four brothers, Robert Myers, Wendell Myers, Clyde Myers and Daniel Myers.Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, and from 10 until time of the funeral and committal service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David E. Bault of Abundant Life Fellowship Church officiating.Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cherry Tree Township.
