Thomas L. McKinsey, 91, formerly of Phelps Road, Conneaut Lake, passed away, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. He was born February 29, 1920 a son of Elom L. McKinsey and Naomi Guthrie McKinsey. He married Bertha Ann Keisel on April 7, 1943, she passed away March 8, 2003. He attended Vo-tech school to learn how to become a machinist and work as a machinist for McCrosky Tool until his retirement. He was a US Army Veteran serving with the Army Air Core in the south pacific during World War II and was one of the original trainers for the K-9 Core. He was of the protestant faith. Thomas enjoyed fishing, stamp and coin collecting, gardening, and woodworking. He was a charter member of the Summit Township Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of VFW Post 2006 in Meadville. He is survived by three daughters, Cherie Wade and her husband John of Conneaut Lake, Connie Wilson and her husband John of Linesville, and Janey Smith and her husband Jerry of Harmonsburg; two sons, David Keisel and his wife Darlene of Meadville and Russell McKinsey and his wife Barb of Meadville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha Ann McKinsey; sister, Mercedes "Skip" Reuter; and two grandchildren. Family and friends may call Friday, September 30th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 1st at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor David Brumagin, Chaplin of Meadville Medical Center, officiating. The committal service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors performed by VFW Post 2006 Color Guard. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Summit Township Volunteer Fire Department, 10870 Plum Street, Harmonsburg, PA 16422.
