Steven Joseph Denman Sr.
Steven Joseph Denman Sr., 68, of 21835 Blooming Valley Road, Meadville, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1941, in Paterson, N.J., a son of the late Joseph and Lorna Storms Denman. He married Leta Denman; she preceded him in death.
He had attended schools in Paterson. He had held various employments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and especially enjoyed security jobs.
He was affiliated with New Beginnings Church, Meadville. He loved his pets, was very fond of his guns, and had a love for history.
Surviving is his companion of 27 years, Judy Rhoades of Meadville; a stepdaughter, Diane McHenry and her husband, Mike, of Meadville; three sons, Steven Denman Jr. and Clair Baban of Meadville, and stepsons, David Rhoades and Vickie Groetzinger of Erie, and Joe Rhoades and Barbara of Rocklin, Calif.; two granddaughters, Heidi Stannish and her husband, John, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nikki Denman of Geneva; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Stannish, Breanna Stannish and Damion Stannish, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six stepgrandchildren, Geoffrey Rhoades of Seoul, South Korea, Ashley Rhoades of Meadville, Alysa Rhoades of Meadville, Madison Rhoades of Erie, and Krista Rhoades and Kyle Rhoades of Rocklin; and seven brothers, David Denman and his wife, Darlene, of Meadvile, Roy Denman and his companion, Erma Longstreth, of Meadville, Lance Denman and his wife, JoAnn, of Meadville, Scott Denman of Meadville, Shawn Denman of Meadville, Dorian Denman and his wife, Debra, of Meadville, and Bryan Denman of Chesapeake Bay, Va. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, especially his favorite, Uncle Fred of Pequannock, N.J.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Val Ricker, and a stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Rhoades.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. The memorial service follows at 6 p.m. today, with Pastor Temple Jarrell of New Beginnings Church officiating.
