Shirley W. Grandelis, 82, formerly of Franklin Ave., Franklin, passed away on October 4, 2011, at UPMC Hamot in Erie. Born Sept. 23, 1929, in Franklin, Shirley was the daughter of W. Oscar and Sara Daisy Wolfe. She was married to Ernest L. Grandelis on Sept. 18, 1953. He preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Franklin, where at age 12, she became the youngest member of the adult choir. She also served as director of both the Bell Choir and Children's Choir for many years. Shirley came from a musical family and was well known in the area vocally performing with her brothers in the Roy Wolfe Orchestra. She was also active in The Choraliers and performed in many Franklin Civic Operetta productions. After her retirement from the PA State Police, she volunteered at the DeBence Museum, Meals on Wheels and the Literacy Council. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her four daughters, Nancy J. Link and her husband Jeff, Anita L. Grandelis-Greer and her husband Dennis, Beth A. West and her husband Stephen, and Mary E. Davis and her husband David, as well as five grandchildren, Erica R. Link, Christina R. Link, Nathan E. Greer, Jordan E. Tallberg, Madelyn R. West and Ava M. West. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers Roy, Sidney, and Robert Wolfe and sister Sara Barr, as well as two infant twin brothers. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 3 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin following visitation, with Rev. Sam Wagner, associate pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Barrow-Civic Theatre of Franklin, or the Great Lakes Hospice of Erie.
