Sandy Hovis Wheeler Sandy Hovis Wheeler, 66, of Warren Road, Franklin, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family, at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Butler on December 5, 1944, Sandy was the daughter of Rev. Howard A. and Dolores Nulph Witherow. Sandy was a 1962 Rocky Grove High School graduate. She was a member of the Franklin Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Sandy dedicated her entire life to taking care of her son, Douglas; and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family. She enjoyed cooking, collecting "kitchen fairies", and eating at the Olive Garden Restaurant, which was her favorite place to eat Sandy is survived by her husband, William J. Wheeler, whom she married January 23, 2009; and her mother, Dolores "Dolly" Witherow. She is also survived by her son, Douglas Hovis of Franklin; her two daughters, Jann Marie Latshaw and her husband, Denny, and Jodi Rene Coon and her husband, Andy, all of Franklin; her grandchildren, Luke Coon, Levi Coon, Lacy Coon, and Shelby Latshaw, all of Franklin; her step-son, Randy Wheeler, and his wife, Michelle, of New Castle; her step-daughter, Angela Firster and her husband, Ryan, of Cooperstown; and her step-grandchildren, Andy Wheeler and Travis Wheeler of New Castle, and Mark Wheeler, of West Sunbury. Sandy is additionally survived by her brother, Richard Witherow, and his wife, Tammy, of Franklin; her sister-in-law, Gayle Smith and her husband, Darrell, of Oil City; and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Howard A. Witherow; her first husband, Daryl J. Hovis, who passed away October 19, 2003; her brother, Howard Allen Witherow; and her sister, Donna Jean Witherow. Family and friends of Sandy will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services for Sandy will be held at the Franklin Christian Missionary Alliance Church on Thursday, February 3, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Scott Woodlee, pastor of the Franklin Christian Missionary Alliance Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.
