Born in: Springboro, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Meadville, Pennsylvania

Roberta “Bobbi” Grace Thomas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at Meadville Medical Center. Born on June 7, 1937, in Springboro, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late John Morrow Cupples and Margaret Beebe Jones.

Bobbi’s joyful spirit shone through in everything she did. She married R. Charles Thomas in 1964, who sadly passed away in 2021, but they shared many wonderful years together. Bobbi was a proud Meadville High School graduate, Class of ’55, and she pursued her passions by earning certification in gourmet cooking and attending photography classes at Penn State University.

Her career included stints at F.W. Woolworth in California, W.T. Grant, Lockheed Aircraft, and as a dental hygienist for Dr. David DeGrange. However, her most cherished role was that of a dedicated homemaker, where she raised her children. Later in life, Bobbi worked at A and C Appraisal.

She attended St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Bobbi cherished her community. She had a green thumb and delighted in flower gardening, loved watching wildlife, and often wrote heartfelt letters to family and friends. A true sports fan, she could often be found at high school football and baseball games, passionately cheering on the teams and supporting various charities and volunteer organizations. Bobbi was also a proud member of the Meadville Country Club.

Bobbi is survived by her daughter, Sherry A. Thomas of California; three sons, Rex E. Thomas of California, Richard C. Thomas II (Michele Sweeney) of Meadville, and Dr. Jude A. Thomas (Kelleigh Miller) of Ohio; four grandchildren, Angela, Katie (Gracie), Kristi, and Emily; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Cupples (Mary) of North Carolina and Bob Byers (Lois) of Conneaut Lake. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Gloria Kinter, and many close cousins.

Private burial will take place in honor of Bobbi’s wishes.

I knew Bobbi through the TOPS organization she was always such a delight. Know she will be missed. Prayers for the family.

  2. Rich, I didn’t know your mom well but she seemed always full of light, very present to the moment, clever and kind. Her photo and obituary confirms my impressions. I will dance to have known her.
