Rest In Peace Mr. Ungren. My sympathy to his family. I lift you up in prayer, Joan, and I am thankful for the time that I had the privilege to work with you. God bless you! From Mara
What a wonderful man and teacher. He stood tall and strong. He gave us students values and respect for one self and for others. Always took time to talk to you and compassionate for your wants and needs.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a very special teacher.
My sympathy to Joan and family. I always enjoyed talking to Bob during his eye exams.
Outstanding teachers like Mr. Ungren leave an indelible mark on their students. Its been forty years after I completed his calculus class and graduated from FHS. Now that my son is learning and enjoying calculus, I have been remembering Mr. Ungren with a smile. I have fond memories of the way he led us through the complexities of the material, and of the group homework sessions when we thought we were getting away with something. He knew, of course, and no doubt approved. He touched so many lives!
The same man who relentlessly made me understand the fundamentals of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry was also a great riding partner on the Allegheny Bike Trail. He could speak well on a number of subjects and did not hesitate to find the error in the logic of any argument and give full correction. He was a teacher always. But more than all this, Bob was a friend and someone who held dear the good things in life. A life well lived. Dr. Joseph Gent
Bob and Joann were great neighbors in Galloway. I have a lot of fond memories. Joanne please know that you and Cathy are in my thoughts and prayers. Galloway has changed but the memories will stay on forever. God Bless you all.

Joan and Cathy, you are in my prayers. I feel privileged to have such a kind, intelligent, and patient man as my neighbor growing up and as the father of my childhood playmate, I’ll stress the patience! There are too many memories to list here, but I find myself grateful to have been a very small part of a life well lived. My only regret is not asking him to help me with math!

Although it has been over 40 years, I still remember Mr. Ungren. In class there was chalk all over the board as well as his suit because he moved so rapidly explaining a particular proof or equation. He was a thoughtful, intelligent, and caring man and an amazing teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
Bob was my friend, neighbor, and colleague and I am truly saddened by his passing…lots of good memories of Bob…never forget seeing him run for hous, ride his bicycle for miles on the bike trail……he was a great athlete . I’ll never forget him driving down the road in his old orange vintage truck ……we had many good and funny arguements over politics…that is if he could hear what my viewpoint was, he was a little hard of hearing…maybe by choice…lol……he loved jo’s Chocolate cake and fudge….he was my buddy and will truly miss him…My prayers and thoughts are with Jo and his family….Gary Lauderbaugh
Nobody worked the chalk like Mr. Ungren! The sharp, rapid strikes of chalk against blackboard, chalk powdering into the air, chalk dust all over his hands and suit… We sometimes got lost, we often disappointed him, but he doggedly persevered, trying everything he knew to push calculus into our dull teenage brains. A kindly, avuncular, and brilliant man. Mr. Ungren was simply the best teacher I ever had.
I have many fond memories of Mr. Ungren. He was my inspiration to go on into Engineering and I was indebted to him for how well he prepared me through hours of calculating integrals. I loved his classes from Algebra II thru Calc. His passion for math and teaching touches me to this day. I feel blessed to have crossed his path and offer my deepest sympathies to the family.
I miss you bob, my bikin buddy.. Your love of the trails, nature, and a humble simple life were an inspiration to me.
A lot of us students had the up most respect for him. He was a very caring n loving teacher. He walked with pride and demanded you to live up to good standers. Thank you for all your years of service and being a teacher. Our condolences to the family and friends. You had a very loving and gentle wife. Rest in Peace
