Robert Louis Swanson, age 85, of Townville, died Sunday, September 13, 2026 at his residence.
Born June 1, 1941 in Erie, he was a son of Frank T. and Bertha Palmer Swanson.
On April 19, 1963 Robert married the former Beth Colwell who survives.
Mr. Swanson was a veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Canisteo from 1960-1964.
Robert was employed as a carpenter, having worked for the Carpenter’s Union, Local 81 of Erie.
Mr. Swanson enjoyed sports, playing football in high school and also at Navy of traveling teams. He had also coached youth sports. Robert had also enjoyed traveling and had a private pilot’s license.
Surviving is his wife Beth of Townville; a daughter, Dawn Barker and her husband Nathan of Centerville; a son, Robert L. Swanson, Jr of Townville; two grandchildren, Dane Barker and girlfriend Emily of Pittsfield and Hadley Barker and boyfriend Cody of Camp Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above and six siblings; Audrey Bartone, Joyce Banks, Frank Swanson, Jr., Richard Swanson, Beverly Labrozzi, James Swanson.
Friends will be received from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 33353 N. Main Street, Townville, where a memorial service will be held Thursday at 5:00 pm. Chaplain Greg Dill will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Hospice or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

What a great Father, Grandfather, and friend.
Always had friendly and cheerful get togethers, stories and jokes were constant.
After we moved some distance always had calls that made our day.
