Robert E. Hanna, a beloved figure in the Townville community, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2026. Born on December 16, 1954, in Meadville, PA, Bob was the son of Ernest J. and Lucille Boyle Hanna. He grew up in Townville, graduating from Townville High School in 1972, and he spent much of his life dedicated to his family and community.
Bob was a proud husband to Linda Nicols, whom he married on September 22, 1979. Together they created a warm and loving home. Bob was well-known for running Hanna’s Hardware, a cherished family business that has served the community for over 100 years. His passion for retail and service to others was evident in everything he did.
In his free time, Bob could be found enjoying the outdoors, whether it was trap shooting, golfing, fishing, or boating. He also dedicated much of his time to community service, volunteering with the Townville Fire and Ambulance Service and leading local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
However, his greatest joy in life came from his grandchildren, Andrew, Arch, and Lawrence, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Linda; his daughter, Ashlee Zmijewski (Peter) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; his son, Jared Hanna (Taylor) of Townville; and his brother, Don Hanna (Diane) of Townville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
No formal services will be held at this time.

Bob was very kind to me. He rented me my first home in Townville and I worked for him at the Red & White for many years.
Always a kind smile when you walked into the hardware, he will be missed. To the whole Hanna Family, my heart goes out to all of you❤️
The foot print of Townville that I grew up with has changed so much…and with this news, it has changed again. Bob has always been a part of who and what Townville is and has been. When I was in the hardware and even when I wasn’t, he always would ask about my kids or just chat in general about family or events. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to my Brother-in-Law Don, and the entire Hanna family. You will be in my prayers and thoughts, now and in the days ahead.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort for all the family as you go through this time. May God hold you tight.

Such a loss to the Community. Bob is woven into the memories of Townville as well as mine growing up. So so sorry to Linda, their kids and to Dine and Don and the entire Hanna family. The Hardware was always one of my stops when I came to town and being welcomed with Bob’s smile and a hug.

A good memory was some years back at Old Home Days when Bob was dealing the cards for one of the games and we stayed late into the night playing, come to think of it, He probably was ready to go home, but he never complained and we had a great time!

I’m very sorry to hear of his passing. Although I haven’t seen him in years, I felt that we were in touch. We were related by marriage, somewhat, . More by area than by blood. I understand he went to Maine often. That’s where I now reside. I always hoped we could get together. But unfortunately that didn’t happen. Rest easy Bob. I’m sure you were a good man. Heartfelt sympathy to all Bob’s family! I always loved seeing Bob at the hardware or when out and about. We always had a good conversation about everything! I remember babysitting both Bob and Don when I was a teenager so we go way back! He will be so missed by all who knew him.

After my retirement from teaching, Bob asked me if I would like to work at the hardware for him. Bob was a great boss and a true gentleman. It was a very enjoyable job, with lots of good memories. Connie and I would like to wish you our sincere sympathy to the whole Hanna family.

My heart hurts for your loss. Mr. Hanna was like my second Father to me growing up. He vetted all my high school and college boyfriends. He set up tents in the backyard so we could camp by the pond. He taught me how to play Spoons. He had a great sense of humor. A lot of my best memories in high school were hanging out at the Hanna household. I am very sorry on the loss of your Dad. A great loss
