Richard C. Russell Richard C. Russell, 77, of 1220 Chestnut Street, Franklin, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Sugar Creek Station. Born May 14, 1933 in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Perry M. and Blanche Davis Russell. Mr. Russell was a Korean War Veteran where he served in both the Army and the Air Force. He was a self-employed carpenter and had been the head of maintenance for Zurns Manufacturing for more than 21 years until his retirement. He also had been employed for the Ambridge Company. He was married on February 27, 1967 to the former Betty McLaughlin, who preceded him in death. Mr. Russell was a member of the Warren V.F.W; and the Tidioute V.F.W. #8803. He had been an amateur boxer in the Pittsburg area. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. Russell is survived by his three sons, Mark Russell, Dean Russell, and Greg Russell and his wife, Kathy; and his companion of many years, Mary Hulsizer of Franklin; and many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his dog, "Baby Doll". In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil Russell, John Russell, Howard Russell and Detmar Russell; his sisters, Genevieve Eaton and Carmalida Hineman. Friends may call at Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Saturday, June 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, June 26 at 5 p.m. with the Rev. David Janz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, presiding. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
