Pearl M. Colwell

Pearl Maxine Colwell, age 92, of Townville, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 21, 2026, at Titusville Hospital. Born on September 22, 1933, to Morris (Bus) and Goldie McElhaney. She united in marriage with her beloved husband, Bill Colwell, on September 22, 1951, in Tryonville.

A proud graduate of Townville High School, class of 1951, Pearl dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to Mercer Spring and Wire in Townville, where she held the position of Supervisor prior to her retirement in 1995. Pearl was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to inspire those around her.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Pearl was an avid sportswoman. She enjoyed many years of bowling in three leagues at Lin Van Lanes, where she once held the highest average for women’s league bowlers for an entire year. Pearl was also an enthusiastic golfer, frequently playing at Green Acres Golf Course, where she achieved a remarkable hole-in-one on hole #5 in 1989. She and Bill shared numerous golf trips with friends, creating cherished memories along the way.

Pearl was a member of the Tryonville United Methodist Church and contributed her time and talents to Willing Works of Tryonville. She had a passion for playing cards and enjoyed spending quality time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her son, Jim; her half-brother, Dick Baron; her son-in-law, Bill Bennett; her sister-in-law, Imogene Jones; her brother-in-law, Rynd (Bud) Jones; and a special nephew, Darrel Kennedy.

Pearl is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Bennett; four grandsons, Bill Bennett, Matt Colwell, Eric Bennett, and Ben Colwell; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind three brothers, Tom McElhaney, Ken McElhaney (Carol), and Art McElhaney (Diane); one sister, Elaine Varsel (Jim); several nieces, nephews, and her cherished namesake, Darla Pearl Hardy.

A memorial service celebrating Pearl’s life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Townville Baptist Church Social Hall, located at 33274 N Main Street, Townville. Pastor Frank Weingard will officiate the service, followed by a luncheon to honor her legacy and share cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Pearl’s memory be made to the Tryonville Cemetery Association, c/o Clarence Harvey, Jr., 38128 Five Corners Road, Centerville, PA 16404, or to the Townville Fire, Ambulance, and Auxiliary, 33441 N. Main Street, Townville, PA 16360.
