Pauline J. Irlam, 87, of 9108 State Highway 198, Conneautville, formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Rolling Fields.
Born in Meadville on June 7, 1922, she was a daughter of Richard and Flora Kastel. She married Arnold J. Irlam on Aug. 23, 1946; he preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2005.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School and Meadville Commercial College. She previously worked for Postance Newstand. She retired from The Meadville Tribune in 1987 after 35 years of service.
She was a loving, kind and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She was an avid golfer.
She was a member of St. Agatha Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne McClay and her husband, Edward, of Meadville, and Judy Davis and her husband, Lamar, of Cambridge Springs; two grandchildren, Matthew McClay and his wife, Melissa, of Erie, and Jeffrey Norton and his wife, Stacey, of Saegertown; three great-grandchildren, Derrick, Isabella and Aubrey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Richard Kastel and Henry Kastel.
Calling hour will be Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, with Father Raymond Gramata of the church as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or a charity of the donor's choice.
