Ollie Mae Hart of North Wayland Road, Meadville, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter, Jean, and hospice nurses at her side on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.Ollie was born on Aug. 3, 1914, in Pocahontas County, Greenbank, W.Va. She moved to Meadville with her parents, Ira W. and Rella E. Taylor Sheets in 1924.A graduate of Meadville High School in 1932, she worked at Talon Fastener Co. for 10 years. On April 14, 1939, she married William (Bill) L. Hart and became a homemaker, devoting her life to her family.She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, the daily newspaper, and traveling and dancing in her earlier years. Ollie was a member of the former State Road Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for 21 years and various offices in the United Methodist Women. She has belonged to the Grace United Methodist Church for many years. Ollie served on the East Mead Election Board for 16 years, was a member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, and active in the PTA and 4-H.Ollie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and their son, Neil L. Hart.She is survived by her daughters, Gloria McKinney of Lexington, N.C., and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Pickens of Farmington, Conn.; four grandchildren, Eric Pickens and his wife, Lauren, of New Rochelle, N.Y., Carrie Pickens of New London, Conn., Mrs. Jeff (Linda) Robinson of Lexington, N.C., and Mrs. Neil (Lori) Tate of Kernersville, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Robinson, Ty Ferguson and Elizabeth Tate. Ollie was the oldest and last survivor of six siblings, Mary Sheets, Lucile Schwab, Grace Demeter, Wilson Sheets and Kyle Sheets. She had many nieces and nephews. Her brother-in-law, Ward Sheets, and nephew, David Sheets, were very special people in her life.Arrangements for a private burial service at Roselawn Cemetery will be made by Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.A memorial service will be conducted on Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 828 N. Main St., Meadville, with the Rev. Robert Goodnough officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Active Aging, 1034 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335; and Hospice of Crawford County, Inc., 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
