My heartfelt sympathy to the entire family. I have nothing but fond memories of Norm, always kind, always asking about my family, and so proud of his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. He was also such a great community supporter, he will be missed. Thinking of you all during this sad time.
Norman Richard Dempsey, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, Thursday morning, April 23, 2026, at Guys Mills, PA.
Norman was born in Titusville, PA on October 7, 1938. He graduated from Townville High School in 1957, where he met the love of his life, Jennie Joanne Troutner. The two were married July 4, 1959.
Ever a hard worker, Norman was employed at Advanced Cast in Meadville, PA, retiring in 1999 after 42 years of service. Norman was happy to hang up his blue bucket hat to be able to spend his time on his true passion, serving as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Indeed, Norman deeply enjoyed every moment with friends and family. Determined and resourceful, Norman will be remembered for impressive projects such as their yearly Christmas lights display, individually lighting the uniforms of the Amy’s Army Maplewood Marching Band, and a daring, yet successful, effort to remove the towering metal antenna from their home. The lights and antenna may be gone, but our many happy memories with Norman will last forever.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Jennie Joanne (Troutner) Dempsey; his children, Karen Wahlmark (Robert), of Townville, PA, Brian Dempsey (Tanya) of Lake Charles, LA, and Daniel Dempsey (Donna) of Colonial Heights, VA. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin Wahlmark (Sara) of Conneaut, OH, Christopher Wahlmark (Hope) of State College, PA, Brett Dempsey (Kara) of Chester, VA, and Rachel Dempsey of Colonial Heights, VA. Norman was blessed to have seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alyssa, and Joshua Wahlmark, Samantha and Josephine Wahlmark, and Olivia and Benjamin Arvidson. They are his legacy of love and joy. He is also survived by his sister Connie (Ron) Sitterley of Spartansburg, PA.
Norman is preceded in death by his father, Owen Dempsey, his mother Eloise Buckley, stepfather John Buckley, and his son David Dempsey.
Memorial donations can be made to Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, 24740 State Street, Meadville, PA 16335 where Norman was a dedicated member, or the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
The family would like to especially thank the care teams of Hospice of Crawford County and the VNA Alliance of Crawford County, for their care, empathy, compassion and professionalism.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville, PA 16360.
