Norman E. "Sonny" Shaw, 70, of 2438 Rocky Grove Ave., Franklin, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Jan. 25, 1938, in Scrubgrass Township, he was the son of Norman C. Shaw and Francis Evelyn Keith. Mr. Shaw was employed as a machinist for CPT from 1964 to 1980, he was employed at Hodge Foundry Inc. from Aug. 1, 1988, to Aug. 1, 2003, and he also worked at Franklin Cemetery. He was married Dec. 8, 1957, to the former Barbara T. Harry, who survives. Mr. Shaw was a veteran of the U.S. Army during peacetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and country music. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shaw is survived by six sisters, Elsie Redmound and her husband, Walter, of Transfer, Mary Whitman of Franklin, June Carter of Franklin, Dorothy Frantz and her husband, Samuel, of Franklin, Agnes Johns and her husband, Larry, of Franklin, and Tammy Shaw of Polk. He is also survived by three brothers, John Shaw and his wife, Sharon, of Franklin, Barry Shaw of Franklin and Thomas Shaw of Polk; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his father on April 2, 1987; his mother on April 12, 2002; two brothers, Joseph Shaw and Roy Shaw; and one sister, Roberta Shaw. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Cemetery. Interment will also be at Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Venango County Humane Society.
