Norma Jean Saxton age 101 of Townville, PA, went to eternal rest August 18, 2026. Norma was born March 20, 1925 to Bert & Cora Davenport. She graduated from Townville High School in 1944. Norma spent a lifetime enjoying the Baptist Church in Townville and any Church activities. She loved riding behind her son Dick on his motorcycle and did so well into her 90’s.

Norma had a long full life, often telling stories of studying by oil lamp until they finally got electric. Stories of the neighbor who got the first TV in Townville and everyone gathering there to watch special events. Working at the Talon Factory making war supplies during the war until the war was over and the men came home and women weren’t needed for the jobs anymore. She saw so many worldly changes and is now at peace.

Norma is survived by her son Jason R. Saxton (Christy), Grandchildren, Jeremiah Saxton, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Saxton, Heather Saxton. Destinee (Carter) Saxton-Stover, & Kai (Maddie) Saxton. Many great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin W Saxton and both of her sons David and Richard Saxton. All of her siblings and parents also preceded her.

The family would like to thank the Embassy of Meadville and Hospice Services for their amazing services in caring for Norma. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  5. In this uniquely, beautiful family grandma and grandpa not only taught us what love is but they showed us through their relationship(even in their loving disagreements). Grateful that grandma showed me how to truly walk with Jesus. All the amazing dress up days together. It is not sad to know she is finally home and surrounded by those she has been apart from. I love you grandma!

  6. My mom was her next door neighbor at Embassy. I loved talking with her in the hallway. She always wore her hot pink lipstick. She loved talking about being an actress at the Academy theater. She always joked that she was jealous because I had two dimples and she only had one. She had a beautiful smile and a great sence of humor. She was a very classy but humble soul. I will miss Norma as will my dogs who adored her. May she be in peace. She loved that one CNA Tracy who loved and doted on her. Norma didn’t take it well when Tracy retired but dear Tracy still visited. She was the life of the party.

  8. Sweet Norma Jean! We would converse on a routine basis about the current events happening in Townville, how things have changed, and she’d share many past time memories.
    The one question she would asked is “Can I ask you something personal? Have you ever wondered why in the summer the trees dress warm, but in the winter they get naked?! Why is that?” and I always would respond with “I’ve never thought of it, but maybe someday the Lord will tell you why they do that” and we would both chuckle. I hope Miss Norma Jean has found the answer to her question.
    My thoughts and prayers go out to Norma’s family and those who are dearly missing her.

  9. She will be missed so much, I visited my sister in law at Embassy almost every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the past year. I always searched for Norma on my way in and out. She was always out and about, dressed up with her jewelry and lipstick on and nails painted. I knew her since 1969 thru her son Richard, she always said she knew who I was, and II really felt she did. It was always such a joy to see her, she was one of the sweetest little ladies I’ve known. I lost my sister in law on the 7th and heard that Norma was going to be leaving us soon as well. I’m so grateful I got to spend this last year visiting her. ❤️Love you Norma

  10. Norma lived a long, full life and experienced many things and she loved the Lord. We will all miss her lovely smile.

  11. When I was a little boy Norma would watch me for my Mom, and she also babysat both of my younger sisters. This went on while Mom was working her job, and she was a great friend to Mom, to me and to our entire family. I remember my older brothers and I would play football or baseball at Norma’s house up the street in Townville with her son Dick, or maybe go there and listen to one of his latest Beatles albums.

    Norma Saxton was one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving persons I ever knew in my whole life. I know she will be missed by many, many people. God Bless you Norma, dear friend. May your family and friends all find comfort and solace in their memories of you. And may you rest in peace forever.
