Mildred M. Rice Mildred M. Rice, 88, of Adams Street, Franklin , passed away at 12:15 a.m. at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, on Friday, January 7, 2011. Born November 9, 1922, in Tylersburg, PA, Mildred was the daughter of the late Clyde and Luella Roddy Bowen. She was a 1941 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She married Clair E. Rice, Sr., on November 9, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1974. Mildred worked for the News Herald during the War in 1944. She also worked at Franklin Hospital and Kea's Restaurant and as a baker at Central Elementary School for 16 years. She was the longest living member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church in Franklin. She was presently attending the Cochranton Community Church. She enjoyed crafts, watching Steeler's Football, NASCAR and was a collector of covered bridges. Mildred is survived by her son, Clair (Dean) E. Rice, Jr. and his wife, Ada, of Cooperstown; and her two daughters, Cindy L. Rice, at home with whom she lived, and Cheryl Baughman and her husband, Terry, of Franklin. Mildred is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Kim Roxberry and her husband, Tim, of Franklin, Dawn Rice of Venus, Sharon Moon of Franklin, Tracey Kyler, Billie Jo Frankenburger, and Larry "David" Rice, all of Seneca, Tara Baughman, Chama Renninger and her husband, Will, and T.J. Baughman, all of Franklin; and her 15 great-grandchildren, Bradley Rice, Jessica Roxberry , and Emily Roxberry, all of Franklin, Adam, Hannah, Katelyn, and Ashley Kaber, all of Venus, Matthew and Kayla Hart of Franklin, Evan and Emily Moon of Franklin, Paige Ferry and Haley Rice of Seneca, Cecilia Frankenburger of Seneca, and Isaac Renninger ("her sunshine") of Franklin; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Isabella. Additionally, she is survived by her 2 brothers, Robert Bowen and his wife, Pat, of Franklin, and Ralph Bowen of Cooperstown. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Larry Rice on March 3, 1996. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, January 9, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services for Mildred will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, January 10 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Steve Clulow, pastor of the Cochranton Community Church, officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Community Services of Venango County, 203 Center Street, Oil City, PA 16301. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
