Mildred (Milly) I. Fuchs, 90, of Venango Street, Franklin passed away at 7:50 p.m., on October 15, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born August 22, 1923 in Franklin, Mildred was the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel (Jones) Ewing. On August 2, 1943 she married Robert W. Fuchs, who preceded her in death on October 23, 1996. Milly was employed as a cashier at several local grocery stores - AP, Loblaws, Westons and Franklin Drug. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a crossing guard and a cafeteria cashier at Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School. She enjoyed the kids and seeing her grandchildren during the school day. Mrs. Fuchs was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Franklin. Milly was a member of the Auxiliary Eagles Club and a former member of the Moose Club. She enjoyed playing solitaire, bingo, and dancing. She was an avid Pirates fan. Milly also enjoyed bowling, and continued to participate in leagues until she was 88 years old. Mildred was a kind and gentle person that loved everyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Sandra Miller and her husband, Larry of Franklin and Kathleen Yard and her husband, Gib of Franklin; 6 grandchildren, Rich Yard and his wife, Barb, Cindy Yard, Tracy Heasley and her husband, Matt, Kristie Montgomery, Jason Miller and his wife, Kelly, and Trisha Miller; and 17 great-grandchildren, Brittany Montgomery and her husband, Brad Farren, Nick Montgomery, Colton Miller, Zach Montgomery, Jared Montgomery, Matthew Heasley, Peyton Miller, Jeffrey Heasley, Chloe McMullen, Nathan Heasley, Hailey Yard, Owen McMullen, Ryan Heasley, Ben Yard, Sammy Heasley, Jayden Miller, and Jemma Miller. Milly is additionally survived by several nieces and nephews and her special niece, Wilda Ewing Reed. In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by her grandsons, Robert Yard and Jeffrey Miller; 3 brothers, Charles, Wesley, and Thomas Ewing; and 4 sisters, Katherine Stokes, Blanch Dean, Grace Hummel, and Leona Brown. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, October 18, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with The Rev. Holly A. Davis, Rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Franklin Cemetery . The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491, Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323.
