Mary V. Griswold
July 2, 1925 ~ September 7, 2008
Mary V. (Vi) Griswold went home to be with our Lord and her loving husband Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008. She was living in The Caring Place at the time of her death, and before that she lived with her daughter at 827 Mercer Road, Franklin. Mary was born July 2, 1925, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Alfred and Viola Biebl. She was married on Jan. 22, 1949, to Clarence (Chris) E. Griswold, who preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1967. Mary was a waitress for most of her life. She loved being a waitress as she loved her job and meeting so many nice people. To this day, many of her former customers still ask about her. She worked at the 12th Street Diner, Leonardo's Restaurant and the Franklin Dairy, retiring in 1988. Mary is survived by the following children, Joseph and Sherry Griswold of Franklin, John and Beverly Griswold of Franklin, Virginia (Ginny) and Dan Anderson of Centerville and Avon, Fla., Victoria Griswold of Franklin and Robert Griswold and his fiance, Debra Bedford of Franklin. She is also survived by the following grandchildren, Brian and April Mitchell of North Carolina, Joie and Jay Boughner of Ohio, Scott and Stacy Mitchell of Sunville, Wesley Griswold of Pittsburgh, Christopher Griswold of University of Ohio, Rebecca Griswold Mehler of Pittsburgh, Jessica and Steve Covell of Virginia and Jonathon Griswold of Franklin. She is survived by the following great-grandchildren, Summer, Jarrett and Heidi Mitchell, all of Sunville and Jordon Boughner of Ohio. She is also survived by two brothers and their wives, Marvin (Mike) and Angie Biebl, Robert and Sara Biebl; brother-in-law, Francis (Frank) Hormes; sister-in-law, Renetta Biebl, all of Maryland; her sister, Audrey Wheeler of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families of Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Biebl; two sisters, Frances Hormes and Bernadine Kaczmarczyk; and brothers-in-law, John Kaczmarczyk and Gene Wheeler. As per her request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of her family. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105, or to the ASPCA for the prevention of cruelty to animals at aspca.org.
