Mary Lou Shields Mary Lou Shields, 83, of 214 Palmer Avenue, Franklin (formerly of Sharpsville, PA), passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 5:45 p.m. at the Golden Living Center in Oil City, where she had resided since July 2 of this year. Born September 24, 1927, in Franklin, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Green Beggs, Sr. She was married on July 22, 1965 to Albert Richard Shields. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2006. Mary Lou had worked as a teacher and a driver for the Mercer County PA Mental Retardation Services. She also was a graduate of Feller's Beauty School and had been Co-owner and Supervisor at New Penn Beauty School in Warren, PA. She had also been a supervisor at the Oil City Beauty School. She enjoyed knitting, drawing and painting and spending time with her family. Mary Lou is survived by her son, R. Michael Miller and his wife, Frankie, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and her three daughters, Peggy Lou Miller and her husband, James, of Franklin, Bonnie Ford and her husband, Michael, of Erie, and Sandra K. Caszatt of Clover, South Carolina. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Kris Miller and his wife, Elisa, of Franklin, Steven Miller and his wife, Jennifer, of Enid, Oklahoma, Sonja Johnson of Marquette, Michigan, Chris Miller and Robert Miller of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Melissa Zuppo and her husband, Gerald, of York, South Carolina, Richard Heckathorn and his wife, Tina, of Greenville, and Cindy Caszatt of Clover, South Carolina; and her eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Miller of Titusville, Kayla Miller of Shalimar, Florida, Tyler Miller of Enid, Oklahoma, Kristin Miller II of Franklin, and Nikkie and Gerald Zuppo of York, South Carolina, Brittany Michaels of Elko, Nevada, and Timmy Snyder of Marquette, Michigan. Additionally, Mary Lou is survived by her brother, Harry Beggs, Jr., of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband (who passed away on June 27, 2006), Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Mildred Beggs; and her brother-in-law, Jack Shields. Family and friends of Mary Lou will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Saturday, December 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Services for Mary Lou will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 18 at the Funeral Home with Linda Deeter, pastor at The Caring Place, officiating.   5. My grandmother always did her best to teach me right and she succeeded. She was the best! Im sorry i never got to say goodbye, that eats me up inside, but as i write this i know she is watching so she knows. I wish she could have seen more from me, i wish i could be there. I will always love you grandma and i miss you like crazy. I love you.
