Rev. Mary E. Myers, 77, of 1424 Otter Street, Franklin, died at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born March 15, 1935 in Lancaster, Ohio, Mary was the daughter of the late Mervine and Katherine Elizabeth (English) Rager. Mary graduated from Lancaster High School on 1953. Mary graduated from Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute, Van Cleve, KY in 1956. She also graduated as a registered nurse from the Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH, and was capped in 1959. Mary served as a clinical R.N. in the jungles of British Guyanna, S.A. for five years. She was ordained as a minister of the gospel be the All-Tribes Missionary Council, Athens, Michigan. She pastored several churches: Sunville, Mass Grove Dohmer, and Geneva. She visited Mexico and Haiti several times. Rev. Myers was a teacher in Christian Day Schools in Colorado Springs, a member of the Living Christmas Choir of Cochranton, PA, a singer in the Pilgrimette Gospel Trio, Franklin, and a volunteer with the Singers for Jesus in the hallways of UPMC hospital in Seneca. She wrote her own songs and played the guitar, piano, and accordion. Mary attended the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Franklin. She raised several nieces and friends. Mary is survived by her son, Gary F. Myers of Franklin; her daughter, Darlene M. Myers of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, George L. Rager and Jack R. Rager. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1333 Buffalo Street, Franklin, with the Rev. Jonathan Bell of the church, officiating, and the Rev. Dewey King of the Middleport Holy Pilgrim Church, assisting. Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1333 Buffalo Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
