Mary C. Smouse, 89, of Franklin, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.Born on July 22, 1929 in Rockland Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Beach) Hart. She was a graduate of Rockland High School.On December 22, 1950, Mary married the love of her life, Harry W. Smouse; he preceded her in death on June 23, 2003.For over 22 years, Mary worked at G.C. Murphy's as a Sales Clerk.In her spare time, Mary enjoyed the simple things in life. She attended both the Atlantic Avenue Church and the Galloway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, canning, and yard sales. Mary also liked completing puzzles, square dancing, her card club, and going camping.Mary is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Nosker-McVay and her husband, Jim, of Franklin, and Lori Baker and her husband, Clyde, Jr., of Franklin; her 3 grandchildren, Lisa Rader and her husband, Aaron, of Port Orange, FL, Anthony Heasley of Franklin, and Brittany Oehlsen and her husband, Matt, of Stanford, CT; her 4 great-grandchildren, Madison, Baylei, and Kendra Rader of Port Orange, FL, and Aiden McClay-Heasley of Franklin; and her two sisters, Etta Jean Mahle of Venus, and Sara Stephens of Madison, OH.In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Steven Smouse; her grandson, Robert W. Heasley; her three brothers, David, Raymond, and Paul Hart; and her seven sisters, Iva Norris, Grace Repman, Florence Androsky, Genevieve Hetzler, Dorothy Young, Maude Hart, and Lois Hart.Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Funeral services for Mary will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Galloway United Methodist Church, 196 Seysler Road, Franklin, PA 16323, starting at 11 am with Reverend Roy Gearhart, pastor of the church, officiating.Interment will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions can be made in Mary's name to the Galloway United Methodist Church, 196 Seysler Road, Franklin, PA 16323; to the Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department, 624 Congress Hill Road, Franklin, PA 16323; and/or to the Polk Volunteer Fire Department, 710 Main Street, Polk, PA 16342.The family would also like to personally thank Rhonda Chmiel for taking care of Mary and to the Aseracare personnel, Ashley, Juliana, Sandy, and Kim, for the great care they took of her.To send flowers, cards, online condolences, or for further information, family and friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.
