Mary C. Shelvey, 97, of 31 Park Ave., Meadville, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born in Meadville on March 21, 1913, a daughter of William and Margaret Rice Stadler. She married James M. Shelvey on April 25, 1935; he preceded her in death in 1989. She was employed at Lyons Fastener from 1931 to 1935. She was a member of St. Agatha Church, Meadville. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic minister, member of Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and a life member of Catholic Daughters of America. Survivors include a son, William Shelvey and his wife, Carol, of Meadville; four grandchildren, Beth Ann Hill and her husband, Kevin, of Guys Mills, Michael Shelvey and his wife, Nichole, of Kansas City, Mo., James Shelvey and his wife, Koren, of Pittsburgh, and Linda Potter and her husband, Charles, of Meadville; nine great-grandchildren, Max and Brittany Hill, Crystal, Sarah and Kyle Shelvey, Sydne and Ian Shelvey, and Ashley and Megan Potter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant son, Jimmy. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. A Catholic Daughters of America service will be conducted Sunday afternoon, at 3:30, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, with Father Raymond Gramata of the church as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Township. The family requests memorials be made to St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Grace Health Center, C/O Wesbury Foundation, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
