MEADVILLE " Mary C. Cogley, 85, of Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Meadville Medical Center. She lived in Little Cooley for 50 years, then at Barlett Gardens in Cambridge Springs from 2001 to 2003 before residing at the rehabilitation and nursing center. She was born in Geneva on April 15, 1925, a daughter of William J. and Clarice Brooks. She married Willard C. Cogley, May 19, 1947; he passed away in 1989. She worked for Huckleberry’s Restaurant, Talon, and Mercer Spring and Wire where she retired in 1991 after 30 years. She was a caring person who befriended everyone she met. She was a committee woman for the Democratic party for 35 years and received a lifetime achievement award for her service. She worked the voting polls in Athens Township for many years. She taught Sunday school at Little Cooley United Methodist Church and was a Parent-Teacher Association volunteer at Townville elementary and high schools. During this time she was the PTA historian. She volunteered where she resided, receiving a nursing home award in 2007. She would most like to be remembered as a good mother and one who put others before herself. She was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church but also attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Meadville. Survivors include a son, C. Donald Cogley and his wife, Karen Bauer Cogley, of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Rosemary L. Dean and her husband, Bruce, of Little Cooley; a sister, Edna L. Brooks of Sharon; a brother, James (Jim) D. Brooks of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandsons, C. Zachary Cogley and his life partner, Andrea Scarpino, and Philip A. Cogley; a granddaughter, Amy L. Tillotson-Beck, her husband, Douglas, and children, Branden, Shannon, Bradley and Dillon; and other stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother, William (Billy) Brooks; a brother, Clyde (Duane) Brooks; and a grandson, Jon A. Tillotson who passed away in November 1999. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Houseworth of Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville. The family requests memorials be made to Wesleyan Methodist Church, 836 N.
