Mary A. Mitchell, age 96, of Cooperstown, died Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Meadville Medical Center.

A daughter of Charles H. and Martha A. Williams Deeter she was born April 27, 1930 in Jackson Township.

Mary married Ralph E. Mitchell in August of 1950. He preceded her in death in 2011.

The Mitchell’s owned and operated the family dairy farm and had previously owned and operated the Mitchell Potato Farm.

Mrs. Mitchell attended the Chapmanville Community Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are four sons; Daniel and wife Deborah of Franklin, David and wife Brenda of Franklin, Robert and wife Michelle of Franklin, Mark and wife Linda of Cooperstown; a son-in-law, Dewey Stewart of Franklin; fifteen grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Cindy Stewart; a great-grandson, Haven Mitchell; two brothers, Paul Deeter and Chesley Deeter; and three sisters, Twila Hefferman, Shirley Smalley, Dorothy Neely.

Friends will be received from 2 pm to 4 pm on Tuesday, May 12th at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, where funeral services will follow at 4pm that same day. Interment will be made in the Cooperstown Cemetery.
