Martha P Say

September 27, 1925 ~ April 11, 2008
Martha P. Say, 82, of Golden Living Center, Oil City, formerly of Wallaceville Road, Dempseytown, died peacefully in her sleep Friday night April 11, 2008. Born in September 1925 in Rockland, she was the youngest daughter of George and Millie Vuchkovich Paich. She was a graduate of Rockland High School. During World War II, Mrs. Say was employed at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in Franklin. She spent countless hours in volunteer service to her community throughout her life as a Gray Lady at the Oil City Hospital, working the snack bar and delivering flowers, also at the intake desk of the Red Cross Bloodmobile, with the VNA preparing mailings or selling hot dogs, and marketing tickets for the Venango County Community Concert Association. Mrs. Say loved to sing and spent many years at the Alliance Church in Franklin singing with the Ladies Trio. Later, she enjoyed ministering to hospital patients with the group, Singers for Jesus. Mrs. Say had family members in nearly every state and enjoyed the cross-county trips she and her husband and other family members took during her road-runner years. She was married May 2, 1946 to Carl Eugene Say, who preceded her in death May 16, 2007. She and her husband were faithful members of the Church of the Nazarene of Franklin for many years. Surviving are three children, Beverly Stanton and husband, David, of Fruitland Park, Fla., Larry Say and wife, Roxelyn, of Villa Park, Ill., and Mary Say of Oil City; three grandchildren, Thad Say and wife, Jennifer, of Sparks, Md., Teah Say and friend, Jerry Williams, of Rocky Grove, and Nathan Locklin and wife, Kristy, of Pittsburgh; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Isabelle, Sophia and Tauer. She is also survived by four brothers, George Paich of Cahokia, Ill., Thomas Paich of Sterling, Va., Paul Paich of Kennerdell, and Ted Paich of Holmdel N.J.; one sister, Katy Patterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Say was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitch Paich and Nick Paich; five sisters, Mildred Wirtitsch, Mary Kammerdeiner, Stella Haig, Anna Lahiff and Millie Switzer; and two infant siblings. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Gardinier Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Chamberlin, a retired minister, and the Rev. David Smith of the Church of the Nazarene of Franklin, officiating. Interment will be at the Rockland Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers or donations, family and friends take time to share themselves through volunteerism in local organizations.
So sorry we can’t be there in person to pay our last respects to our dear Aunt Martha. Please know that we are with you in thought.
With love and sympathy to all of you
