Martha Ann Greathouse, 85, of 1322 Pearl Street, Franklin passed away on Sunday, April 21 at 6:50 am , at The Caring Place. Born December 5, 1927 in Franklin, Martha was the daughter of the late Lester L. and Edith Connell Baker, Sr. She was married to Junior C. Greathouse on August 7, 1954, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1974. At one time, Martha worked for Franklin Dairy and Isalys as a Waitress. She was a member of The Salvation Army Church, the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Women of the Moose, and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Martha is survived by her son, Major John Swires and his wife, Laura Lou, of Orlando, FL; her step-daughter, Carol Long of Youngstown, OH ; her brothers, Lester L. Baker Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Toledo, OH, James C. Baker and his wife, Linda, of Yeagertown, PA; her brother-in-law, Frank J. Baker of Franklin; her sisters, Ruth Hawkins of Cochranton, Helen Harris of Nectarine, Mary Stright of Franklin, and Edith Beach of Oil City. She is additionally survived by her grandchildren, Captain Geoffrey Swires, Envoy Bryden Swires, Jennifer Wynne, Scott Swires, CW4 Christopher Swires, Wendy Swires Shoemaker, Calvin Greathouse, Robert Greathouse, and Renee Long; her thirteen great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her son, Paul E. Swires; and her sister, Elnora A. Baker. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Tuesday, April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Services for Martha will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at the Funeral Home, with Captain Daniel Alverio (Marthas nephew), officiating. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery . The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army, 737 Elk Street, Franklin PA 16323. It was a long time since i had seen her ,my wife and I stopped to see her one day.I really enjoyed talking to her once again .she will always have a place in my heart.the world lost a special lady.
