Lillian M. Butcher, 76, of 18742 Williams St., Vernon Township, Meadville, beloved wife, cherished mother and "the best Grammy ever," passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, surrounded by her family.She was born in Crossingville on Oct. 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Linalys Ellsworth and Wilbert White. On April 7, 1956, Lillian married Clifton Butcher.She was a member of Cornerstone Church of God.She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and attended Edinboro State Teachers College and had worked at Talon Inc. Lillian was a devoted housewife and possessed a love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, and always looked forward to being able to share moments with them.Lillian enjoyed being an avid bowler for many years, playing cards, and had an interest in flowers and gardening. She had been a member of Elks Ladies Auxiliary and Vernon Township Ladies Auxiliary, and was a life member of Keystone Hose Ladies Auxiliary.In addition to her husband of 52 years, she is survived by two sons, Clifton Butcher and his wife, Debbie, of Meadville, and Randy Butcher and his wife, Dina, of Aliquippa; a daughter, Beverly Styborski of Meadville; three granddaughters, Jessica Vogan and her husband, Gary, Kayla Styborski and Emily Butcher; a grandson, Logan Butcher; a great-grandson, Trey Vogan; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert White.Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.The funeral and committal service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Greggory R. Giles of Cornerstone Church of God officiating.Burial will be in Venango Cemetery, Venango Township.The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Cornerstone Church of God, 18320 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
