Lawrence E. "Baldy" Willyoung, Sr. Lawrence "Baldy" Willyoung, 75, of Congress Hill Road, Franklin, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at 11:35 p.m. at his residence on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Born October 6, 1936 in Franklin, Baldy was the son of the late Wayne G. and Beulah Baker Willyoung. He was married to the former Patricia Ritchey on March 29, 1957, and she survives. He had been employed at Polk Center for 26 years, and retired from there after working with Vocational Rehabilitation Services as Foreman of the Cement Shop for 10 years. Baldy had also worked at the farm at Polk Center. He attended Faith Holiness Church for the past 15 years. When he was able, Baldy enjoyed working on cars. He was an avid "John Deere" memorabilia collector, and enjoyed watching NASCAR on television. He especially cherished the times spent camping with his family. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Baldy is survived by his two children, Lawrence Willyoung, Jr. and his wife, Deborah; and Vickie Wice and her husband, Craig, all of Franklin. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Summer Graham and her husband, Scott, Paula Reeves, Bradley Wice and his special friend, Paige Taylor, and Sara Willyoung; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Evan Graham, Grace Graham, and Mason Lindsey, all of Franklin. Baldy is additionally survived by his 4 brothers, George Willyoung and his wife, Ruth, Ralph Willyoung and his wife, Joyce, and Larry Willyoung, all of Franklin, and Samuel Willyoung and his wife, Connie, of Cooperstown; and his 4 sisters, Anna Ritchey and her husband, Merle, Peg Baker, and Carol Shoup and her husband, Frederick, all of Franklin, and Debbie Adams and her husband, Dennis, of Polk. In addition to his parents, Baldy was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Willyoung. At the request of Baldy, visitation will be private. He also requested that in lieu of flowers, family and friends may send memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association - NW PA Chapter, 110 West 10th Street, Ste, 212, Erie, PA 16501; the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - 2816 Elmwood Avenue, Erie, PA 16508; and/or the Venango County Area Agency on Aging Home Delivered Meal Program - Human Services Complex, 1 Dale Avenue, Franklin, PA 16323. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling arrangements.     Please accept my sincere sympathies. I was very saddened to learn of Lawrence’s passing. I worked with Lawrence for many years at the Center in VRS and we had many laughs and good times. Those were the days. I never saw him get upset in any situation and I viewed him as a mentor to me. Although I never saw him again after he retired, i will always remember him fondly.
