William R. Lawrence, 62, of 109 East State Road, Seneca, died at 2:32 p.m., Monday June 23, 2008 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 13, 1946, in Franklin, he was the son of Julius D. "Gude" Lawrence and Adeline A. Henderson. He worked as a crane man for CPT for 14 years, as a contractor for several years and also as a maintenance specialist at VisionQuest. Mr. Lawrence was a member of Oil City Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Seneca. He married Sandra Williams on Feb. 21, 1969, and she survives. Mr. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, fixing and making things, gardening, carpentry work and talking to people about the Bible. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Ellen Arkward of Cartersville, Ga.; one brother, Thomas D. Lawrence and his wife, Kathy, of Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James J. Lawrence. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oil City Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Seneca with Richard Sauerwine, one of the elders at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Interment will at Franklin Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Oil City Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Seneca, P.O. Box 533, Seneca, 16346, or to the American Diabetes Association. Sandy my deepest sympathies go out to you. I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I have many fond memories of him as I was growing up. You both will always be part of my family. It takes a community to raise a VQ staff child and you both made me a better person today. You are in my prayers.

Dear Sandy, We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. Herb and I saw you last at the Chinese restaurant on Rt. 8 but did not speak as we thought it may be uncomfortable for you both.
