Laveda A. Welton, 87, of 111 Lamberton St., Franklin, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 at UPMC Northwest. Born Nov. 17, 1920, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle Dinsmore Heffner. Mrs. Welton was a homemaker. She was married to Merle D. Welton Sr., and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Welton enjoyed gardening, puzzle books and her family. She is survived by seven children, Merle D. Welton, Jr. and wife, Jane, of Meadville, Larry G. Welton of Franklin, Donald E. Welton and wife, Elizabeth E. Feldman, of Pittsburgh, Jerry B. Welton of Franklin, Karen L. Welton of Franklin, Spring A. Welton of Franklin and Joy A. Welton of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Terry L. Welton; a grandson, Glenn Welton; a daughter-in-law, Esther L. Welton; two sisters, Geneva Spangler and Delores McDaniel. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald C. Bole, VNA Hospice, officiating.
