LAURA L. GIEBNER Laura Giebner, 85, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2009, at UPMC Northwest Medical Center after fighting a long battle with Wegener's Granulomatosis disease. The family would like to publicly thank Dr. Randy Zelen for keeping Laura with us for the last two and a half years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Laura was born in Apollo, PA on May 18, 1924 to Claude and Gay Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Wayne Giebner; brothers Roy Miller of Sharon, PA and James Miller of Franklin, PA, sisters Georgia Blystone and Ola Phillippi of Apollo, PA and Willavene Dick Hasson of Utica, PA. Laura sadly leaves her special friend, Carl Morrow, her three daughters Bonnie Thompson of Dunnellon, FL, Sue Haylett (Tom) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Kelly Bozeman of Jupiter, FL.; five grandchildren Pam Thompson McCroan (Rick) of Micanopy, FL, Brad Haylett (Jennifer) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Bart Haylett of North Palm Beach, FL, Carrie Barlow (Dave) of Charleston, SC; and Justin Bozeman of West Palm Beach, FL; and five great grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew McCroan of Micanopy, FL, Lauren and Lindsey Haylett of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Caelan Barlow of Charleston, SC. Laura is also survived by a sister, Genevieve Loukas of CA, her sister-in-law Beryl Giebner Fairlamb (John) of Cookeville, TN, her sister-in-law Millie Miller of Franklin, PA, nieces and nephews Jim Dick (Audrey) of Utica, PA, Jerry Dick (Patty) of Jackson Center, PA, Jane Daley of Hannaville, PA, David Dick (Linda) of Meadville, PA; Barbara Livengood (Ursel) of Waldorf, MD, K.C. Hart, Joan Whitehead and Patty Vogan all of CA, Mike Miller (Beverly) of Beaver Falls, PA, Beverly Pitts (John) and Bob Miller of Sharon, PA and many great-nieces and nephews. Laura and her family lived in the Polk and Franklin area until they moved to South Florida in 1971. She returned to the Polk area in 2005 and enjoyed renewing old friendships, vegetable gardening, tending to her flowers, visiting with her neighbors and attending the Presbyterian Church and Jimmy Miller's bluegrass music. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations of blood be made to the Central Blood Bank in Laura's memory. Private interment will take place at Sandy Cemetery in Polk, PA. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Polk on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 1:00 with the Rev. Diane Whitman officiating.
