Kenneth B. Shouey

Kenneth B. Shouey, 88, of Juniper Village, formerly of 765 Irvin Ave., Meadville, passed away Friday, June, 5, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.He was born in Cochranton on Aug. 3, 1920, a son of Edward Sr. and Lottie Hickernell Shouey. He married Elizabeth Stan on July 8, 1940; she preceded him in death May 28, 2007.He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.He was employed by the former Avtex Corp. for 42 years, working in the metal shop as a coppersmith until he retired.He was a member of St. Agatha Church and the men's club, life member of the Meadville Sportsman Club and the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society.Survivors include two sons, David R. Shouey and his wife, Bernie, of Meadville, and Dr. Robert J. Shouey of Harrisonburg, Va.; three grandchildren, David Jr., Diane and Rebecca Shouey; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Martha Jane Conrad of Gibsonia; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Stan of Meadville.He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Shouey Jr.; three sisters, Hazel Sowers, Fredia Wertz and Eleanor Dean; and five brothers, Seymour Shouey, Elra Shouey, Floyd Shouey, Edward Shouey and Merle Shouey.Calling hours were Sunday at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, with Father Jerry Mesley as celebrant.Burial with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be at St. Agatha Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
