Katherine Marie Ghering Katherine Marie Ghering, 76, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community in Meadville She was born in East Brady on July 4, 1932, a daughter of Lawrence and Hilda McDonald Brocius. She married Raymond Albert Ghering on Sept. 8, 1951; he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2008. She retired from Wesbury as a nurse's aide, having worked there from May 1969 to July 1994. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, doing scrap books, playing bingo and baking. She was affiliated with St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Survivors include three children, Patty McDowell and her husband, Tom, of Meadville, Douglas Ghering and his wife, Patty, of Summerfield, N.C., and Judy Rojak and her husband, Joseph, of Parma, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tonya McDowell of Meadville, Jeremiah McDowell and his wife, Ruth Dobos, of Meadville, Leslie Ariail, of Summerfield, N.C., Christopher Ariail of Summerfield and Josh Rojak of Parma; a great-grandson, Patrick Lennon McDowell of Meadville; three sisters, Nellie File of Oil City, Anna Teasdale of Pittsburgh and Hazel Deloe of Ripley, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Sylvia Hunsberger. The memorial service is today at 11 a.m. at Willis L. Arnold Funeral Home, a branch of Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, Main Street, Townville, with the Rev. Timothy Solomon of Emmanuel United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Troy Center Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
