Katherine E. Zilafro, 86, of Franklin died at 11:01 PM ,November 1, 2012 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca. Born July 25, 1926 in Foxburg, PA, Katherine was the daughter of the late Percy and Esther (Byers) Page. She was married to James L. Zilafro on September 22, 1950, who preceded her in death on November 14,1996. Katherine graduated from the Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Franklin and Oil City Hospitals. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Franklin. She enjoyed her family and playing the Dulcimer. Katherine is survived by her son, David Zilafro of Franklin, her daughters; Janice Bukac and her husband James of Oil City and Lori Zilafro of Oil City. She is also survived be her brothers; Gary Page of Las Animas, Colorado and Percy Page Jr. of Glenn Dale, Maryland, and her grandson Alexander James Bukac of San Francisco, California. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, James A. Zilafro, her sister, Shirley Gates, and her brother Thomas Page. Family and friends of Katherine will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, November 5th, 2012, from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 6th, 2012 at St. Johns Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Mother Holly Davis pastor of the St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301 and/or The Franklin Public Library, 421 12th Street, Franklin, PA 16323. Rich and I send our deepest sympathy in the passing of Kate. My Mom also sends her condolences. She was so sad to hear the news as they were such good friends working together at OC Hospital. She was such a dear lady and I know how much you will all miss her. I really wish I could be there for her funeral to honor her memory. Please know our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF KATHERINE PASSING. I HAD A CHANCE OF MEETING HER MANY YEARS AGO AT HER MOTHERS HOUSE IN FOXBURG , WHERE I LIVED FOR MANY YEARS. I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW OF HOW SAD IT MADE ME TO HEAR OF A GREAT LOSS . I KNOW WITH MY MOTHER GONE FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS , SHE WOULD HAVE MISSED HER TO. Sorry to hear about your mother, she was a great person. My children loved going over to her house and make Christmas ornaments when they were younger. She was a good neighbor and always there to help. She was a good friend to my mother and they will be missed.
