June Woods, 87, of Atlantic Avenue, Franklin, passed away at 5:23 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Sugar Creek Station where she had resided for the past several months. Born on February 8, 1923, in Walnut Bend, PA, June was the daughter of the late William and Dora Goodwill Wright. She was married to Robert Earl Woods on May 23, 1942. They were married for 55 years before he preceded her in death on July 23, 1997. June had been employed at Woolworth Department Store as a sales clerk; General Manifold and Printing as a Secretary; and most recently at Franklin YMCA as a Secretary, prior to her retirement. She was a member of Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, but was currently attending Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove. June was a one-time member of Calvary Baptist Missionary Society, where she held most local and state offices and was the local "Judge of Election". She was a member of several local card clubs and was also a member of the Quilting Club at Calvary Baptist Church. June is survived by her three sons, Gerald A. Woods and his wife, Pam, of Oil City, Daniel E. Woods and his wife, Diane, of Franklin, and Robert W. Woods and his wife, Karen, of Largo, Florida; and her daughter, Linda Urey and her husband, Kenneth, of Franklin. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Keith Urey and Michael Urey of Franklin, Ronald Woods of Sarasota, Florida, Timothy Woods and his wife, Jamie, of Rockhill, South Carolina, Levi Woods of Franklin, and Ian Woods and Carly Woods of Oil City; and her five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brady Woods of Rockhill, South Carolina, Landon Woods, Jesse David Urey and Jayanna Dixon, all of Franklin. June is additionally survived by her brother, Walter Wright and his wife, Jean, of Columbus, Ohio, and her sister, Ida Berlin and her husband, Dale, of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Woods; her three brothers, William, Merle and Floyd Wright; and her three sisters, Irene Slye, Beulah Kimes and Joanne Kuivinen. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, January 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral Services for June will be held at 5 p.m. following visitation, with Rev. Ed Gresick, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
