Judy M. Umstead, 77, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 25, 2024 at UPMC Hamot with her family by her side. She was born March 10, 1947 in Niagara Falls, New York, a daughter of the late James B. Pyle and Ruth (Patterson) Martin. Judy was a homemaker and enjoyed going to yard sales, crocheting, crafting and helping people in need. She was Auxiliary President for 13 years and lifetime member at the VFW of Franklin, lifetime member of Scotland School Orphanage, Lady of the Moose, DAR and supported local Election Campaigns. She was a member of Uniontown CMA Church. She will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Left to cherish her memory is her partner, Charles D. Birchard, of Franklin; her sons, Leroy W. Foreman, of Franklin, Howard E. (Michelle) Carter, of Hermitage, Murphy D. Sheffer, of Franklin and her daughters, Dr. Ruth (Mickey) Keri, of Kirtland, Ohio and Crystal (Scott) Youkers, of Oil City; her brother, Michael (Sue) Pyle of Franklin; a sister, Grace (Dale) Umstead, of Butler, PA and a sister-in-law, Carole "Lynn" Pyle, of Franklin; her grandchildren, Matthew and Anna Keri and Howard, Robert and Dennis Carter; several great grandchildren; and her dear friend Kathy Harayda. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Donald Martin; step-mother, Margorie Slocumb; brothers, Harry Burton Pyle, James L. Pyle and Randolph C. Pyle and sister, Linda Hohn. Family and friends are welcome to call at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, July 29th from 4 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 30th at 11:30 am with Matthew Bernard, Assistant Pastor of Resurrection Baptist Church, officiating. Judy will be laid to rest in Franklin Cemetery next to her mother, Ruth Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the VFW Post 11835, 415 Ninth Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
