Joyce A. Wood Joyce A. Wood, 81, of Market Street, Meadville, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Meadville Medical Center Transitional Care Unit She was born in Sylvania, Lucas County, Ohio, June 4, 1927, daughter of the late Walter V. and Jenny Carmen Welsh. She was married to Richard A. Wood, who preceded her in death Sept. 7, 2008. She was employed as a production worker with Talon for 30 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club No. 429, and had served as the madam past president of the Auxiliary and also as a guard on the degree team with the Eagles Club. She was also a member of the VFW Post 2006. She enjoyed gardening — especially planting flowers — fishing, camping and dancing. Surviving are a son, Edward L. McClay and his wife, Joanne, of Meadville; two daughters, Patricia A. Smith, and Janice D. Derby and her husband, Terry, all of Meadville; four grandchildren, Brook Ann Barco, Jason Barco, Matthew D. McClay and Christopher M. Smith; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Elizabeth McClay; two sisters, Wanda Franks and Clementine Silcox, both of Toledo, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Charles Smith; six brothers, her twin, Royce Welsh, Gerald Welsh, Walter Welsh, Donald Welsh, Ned Welsh, Ralph Welsh; and three sisters, Geraldine Welsh, Dorothy Morneweck and Josephine Thomas. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Timothy Solomon, officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. .
