John R. Pyle, 86, of Vernon Street, Meadville, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in New Bethlehem on Aug. 16, 1924, a son of Reginald Pyle and Grace Harmon Pyle.
John enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, walking around Meadville and attending church. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan.
He was one of the first members of First Church of God when it came to the Meadville area before it was known as New Beginnings Church of God.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wesbury Town Square for the care they gave John. He was fond of them all.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Crecraft of Meadville; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Pyle.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Church of God, with Pastor Temple Jarrell of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.
The committal service will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
Burial will follow.
