GUYS MILLS - John (Jack) Myers, 82, of 34047 Maple Hill Road, Guys Mills, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Northwest UPMC, Seneca.He was born on Nov. 6, 1926, in Troy Township, Crawford County, a son of the late Fredrick and Edith Tracy Myers. He married Lauretta Greathouse on Dec. 22, 1946. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2003.He was of the Methodist faith.He was a sawyer for Raymond Armstrong until 1979, then he became a partner with AMA Lumber Co. He was a U.S. Navy SeaBee, serving during World War II and in Okinawa, Japan.He was an avid Maplewood sports fan and had played baseball with the Black Ash semi-pro baseball team.Surviving are a son, Charles R. Myers and his wife, Patti, of Harborcreek; a daughter, Linda K. Carpenter and her husband, Gary, of Townville; a daughter, Debra S. Britton and her husband, Neal, of Chapmanville; a son, Ronald K. Myers and his wife, Kathy, of Guys Mills; nine grandchildren, Tracy Ebersole and her husband, Jerry, of Mohton, Patricia Myers of Bedford County, Margaret Peters and her husband, Steve, of Saegertown, Jessica Hamilton and her husband, Andy, of Guys Mills, Rick Carpenter of Townville, Kati Britton of Chapmanville, Kelsey Britton of Chapmanville, Allison Myers of Guys Mills and Ashley Myers of Guys Mills; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Longberry of Chapmanville; and a brother, David Myers and his wife, Elaine, of Sunville. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; and a sister, Madge Myers.Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Willis L. Arnold Funeral Home, Main Street, Townville.The funeral will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Glen VanCise officiating.Burial with full military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the PENNCREST School District Foundation, A Scholarship Fund, PO Box 808, Saegertown, Pa. 16433.Arrangements are being handled by Willis L.
