Joan Irene Butcher

Joan Irene Butcher, 88, a life-long resident of Meadville, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Cochranton. She was born on July 20, 1926, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Frank M. and Loretta F. (Kearney) Guenther. She married the love of her life, Raymond L. Butcher, Jr. on February 15, 1947. he preceded her in death on November 1, 1993. Joan belonged to St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville; a former member of Keystone Auxiliary; prior to marrying Raymond she worked at The A & P Market and Bell Telephone Company. Joan will be remembered for her gift of nurturing children, not only her children, but those of friends, neighbors and extended family. She was a devoted, Wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she truly lived for her family. She is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen Blakeslee and her husband, Carl of Cochranton and Patricia Peterson and her husband Thomas of Meadville; 7 grandchildren, Lori Guianen and her husband Steve, Lisa Mailliard, Ronald Smith, Jr, Nathan Smith and his wife Kara, Aaronne Schlosser and her husband Zachary all of Cochranton, Andrew Peterson and his wife Randi of Clinton, South Carolina, and Kaylee Peterson of Pittsburgh; she was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren, Julian, Sean, Reganne, and Eiley Guianen, Avery, Alexys, Emma, and Anna Mailliard, Ariel, Chandler, Ryley, Kayson and Gabriella Smith, Landon, Kaelyn and Liam Smith, Sydney, Kendyl, Brayden, Daylend and Alexzandrya Schlosser all of Cochranton, and Jakob Peterson of Clinton, South Carolina; a sister Alice Price of Meadville. She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Joan was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Butcher; and infant son, Robert Butcher, a great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Taylor Maillard; 9 siblings, Earl Guenther, Margaret Osborne, Charles Guenther, Mary Sargent, Geraldene Pomeroy, Frances Green, John Guenther, Rita Sutton and Joyce Ann Guenther. Friends and Family may call today from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. also, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335, with Father Matthew Kujawinski officiating.
