ANN ARBOR, Mich. " ANN ARBOR, Mich. " James Peter Deeb, 91, of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, June 13, 2010. He was born in Meadville, April 1, 1919, a son of Diab and Cecilla Deeb. He graduated from the former St. Agatha High School in Meadville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army 628th Tank Destroyer Battalion from 1942 to 1946. After the war he returned to Meadville, managed a grocery store and worked his way up to district supervisor for Allied Foods. He always considered Meadville to be his home. He is survived by five children, Peter Deeb and his wife, Jean, of Williamsburg, Va., Ciss Sweeney and her husband, John, of Dublin, Ohio, Michael Deeb and his wife, Nancy, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Lisa Deeb of Dublin, Ohio, and Margaret Gerberding and her husband, Tim, of Wyandotte, Mich.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Deeb and Lenora Deeb, both of Meadville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gail Deeb. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church of Meadville with Fr. Raymond Gramata as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Agatha Cemetery with military service by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006. Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to Ann Arbor Hospice or the Parkinson Foundation.
