Jack Melvin Thomas, 81, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at home. He was born December 28, 1940 in Union City, a son of Leslie and Lora Brumagin Thomas. He married Sylvia Ruth Shellito on June 25, 1960, she survives. He retired from the Union City Municipal Authority and was a member of Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida. Jack enjoyed spending time with family and woodworking. In addition to his loving wife, Sylvia, he is survived by two daughters, Cinda Ewing (Craig) of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Brenda Miller (Randy) of Vandalia, Ohio; a son, Steven Thomas (Cheryl) of Dacula, Georgia; grandchildren, Kristine Ewing, Andrea Weikert (Michael), Tyler Ewing (Alyssa), Ryan Burris (Danielle), Geren Thomas, Amanda Simones (Nick), Aleah Burris, Gloriana Schofer (Nicholas), Lora Burris; two brothers, Larry Thomas (Jo Anne), Lakeland, Florida, and James Thomas (Robin) of Union City; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Lora Thomas, a brother, Dan Thomas, and a sister-in-law, Ruth (Fisk) Thomas. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with his brother, Retired Rev. Larry Thomas, officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in Riceville Cemetery, Centerville, Pennsylvania.
