Helen P. Archacki, 93, of Saegertown, passed away, May 30, 2024 at home. She was born April 3, 1931 in Hayfield Township at home with the assistance of her grandmother who was a midwife. It was discovered years later that her birth was not recorded officially. She was a daughter of Anna (Bracika) and Matthew Plementosh. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse at Black's Corners. Then she attended Meadville High School until 12th grade. Transferring to Saegertown, Helen graduated in 1949. She worked at the American Viscose and continued on the family farm. Later she was employed at the Bell Telephone as a telephone operator for 23 years. On July 20, 1953, Helen married Henry (Hank) Archacki; he preceded her in death on April 2, 2013. Helen enjoyed gardening; raising vegetables and flowers that she sold at the Meadville Market House for many years. She also enjoyed baking and sold her pies at Mickey's Central for over 20 years. Many called her the "Pie Lady". Helen was an avid bowler, an activity she enjoyed with her husband, children, and was on several mixed women's leagues. She contributed to the community throughout her life, participating in several organizations; lifetime membership in Hayfield Fire Hall Auxiliary, the Altar Rosary Society of St. Bernadette's Church, the Hayfield Grange, and Crawford County Bowling Association. Helen was one of the founding members of the Church's Strawberry Festival. Every year she entered exhibits in the Crawford County Fair - everything from sewing, can goods, jams, jellies, baked goods, and a variety of flowers. She proudly exhibited her ribbons above the kitchen table. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (April) Archacki, and Thomas Archacki; grandson, Nickolas Archacki; son in law, David Stone; sister in law, Jeanne Plementosh; brother in law, Edward Archacki; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. In addition to her husband, Henry, of nearly 60 years, Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Archacki Stone; two sisters, Mary Ann Zinchiak, and Rose Smith; a brother, Michael Plementosh. Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, June 3rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4th at 10:00 am at Saint Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, 222 Renner Alley, Saegertown with Father Mark Nowak, pastor, as celebrant. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband at Saint Agatha Cemetery, Meadville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Hayfield Fire Department, 15417 PA-198, Meadville, PA 16335, St. Bernadette's Church, P.O.   2. Dennis,April,Tom,Nick and Dave- My heart goes out to all of you. I have such wonderful memories of dinners made by Helen and enjoyed in the Archacki Home. Her canned goods,produce and flowers filled the house I shared with Thea.
    She’s the one who taught me to refinish furniture and gave me a love of antique shopping.

  3. Helen was so special to me family. My boys remember her pies and jams and she always treated them like her own grandchildren. She will so missed. I’m sorry I can’t attend the services as I’m out of the country but you all will be in my thoughts and prayers. She willl be missed by so many.     Cousin – She will be missed – my condolences to her family- when her and Henry came to Michigan for a visit I always enjoyed the times she and Henry stayed with Terry and I and when we would go to PA we would stay with her and Henry! She made an impact on many people but I know she is happy and enjoying her time with Henry and Cindy! I love you Helen and I will see you again someday !♥️❤️
